EARTHSPEAK'S program in Honduras continues its 8th year. Shown in the photo above is Clinical Trainer Pascuala Martinez graduating a brother and sister training team. The only family member that could deliver the Corrective Babbling program to this deserving young girl was her brother. He learned to be her mentor, and successfully helped her correct her speech. Brother and sister demonstrated their work at her graduation ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the audience. To see the courage and victory of these two youngsters inspires us all to do more than we think we can.
The mentor training program in Honduras has been faithfully executed by Pascuala year after year. She travels into the rural, mountainous regions of Honduras to do nursing education and find children with cleft lip and palate to refer to the cleft palate team services Earthspeak has worked to build in Honduras.
Surgical Team partner Interplast South comes two times a year, and children are referred to Earthspeak Master Trainer Mayra Jacome for speech evaluation. They are also referred for dental, orthodontic, and audiologival services provided by partners at the Ruth Paz Foundation.
